MATTRESS

There are 3 main types
1. Innerspring construction (steel coils with layers of padding is the most common. Perry Davis of Leggett & Platt which makes bedding components recommends  at least 350 coils in a full size ,480 for a queen & 580 for a king

2. Air filled models (composed of air chambers surrounded by foam) let you adjust the firmness: opt for top layer of high density foam.
3. Foam Mattresses come in Latex(made of natural or synthetic rubber), polyurethane( which varies in density and viscoelastic (such as memory foam. Foam retains heat well , so if you get hot while sleeping look for an open-cell construction.
Prices range considerably:
For an innerspring model you can pay from several hundred dollars to $2000.00; for Memory foam or Latex from $1,000.00 to $5,000.00
When you are making a decision  about a bed, options abound. You can focus on how your bed looks, how it feels, or both.
